Daniel Maxwell MEMPHIS, TN — A statewide Blue Alert has been issued by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation after a Memphis police officer was shot late Thursday evening, authorities confirmed as law enforcement continues an urgent manhunt for the suspect.
According to law enforcement officials, the incident occurred around 8 p.m. Thursday in the Parkway Village neighborhood of Memphis. A Memphis Police Department officer was struck by gunfire under circumstances that have not yet been fully disclosed. The wounded officer was transported to Regional One Medical Center and is reported to be in critical but stable condition as of Friday morning.
In response to the shooting, the TBI activated a Blue Alert shortly before midnight, signaling a statewide search for 40-year-old Danell Maxwell of Memphis, who is wanted in connection with the attempted first-degree murder of the officer.
Maxwell is described as approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds, and was last seen wearing dark clothing with an orange and green reflective vest.
